| Every story has to start somewhere, and Merideth Mae Upland's story begins with Dean Upland and Veronica Radin. They met while attending York Prep School. He was a senior and she was just a little freshman -- something rather taboo for most high school couples. They started as friends, and he helped her out with the more difficult classes she was taking, since he already had the experience with them. It wasn't until Dean had graduated and moved onto college that they began their relationship, so to speak. He would call her at least once a week and she would listen about how different and exciting college was. She went to visit him often, and they tried out the dating scene. They went through breakups and different relationships, but in the end, Veronica was the only one for Dean, and they were married almost right after she graduated. Just two years after that, the couple announced the news of the arrival of a baby girl, Merideth Mae Upland. Merideth was his grandmother's name and Mae was her's, so they combined them for Merideth. They lived in Manhattan's Upper East Side happily together for three years, just the three of them. Merideth was a happy toddler, and incredibly curious. Whenever someone left the room or started doing something new, Mer wanted to know what it was as soon as it happened. When she was three, Veronica sat her down and explained that she wasn't going to be an only child anymore. At first she didn't understand, but young Merideth got used to the idea of having another brother or sister. Finally, someone new to play with! And all of her friends at the play dates that her mother set up for her had younger siblings, so she was okay with the idea. As Veronica's stomach grew, Merideth would hug it and draw faces on her growing belly. But when Samuel 'Sammy' James was born, violet wasn't very impressed. How was she supposed to play with something as squishy and wrinkled like that? Young Merideth was kind of expecting a new play date out of her brother's arrival. As her brother grew, Merideth was 'Mommy's little helper.' She wanted to be with Veronica, but the new baby wasn't very fun to play with. But once he got old enough to play with, he was okay in her book. They got along for a while, and then he learned to talk and Mer didn't want to share her toys. But other than the normal brother and sister qualms, the two were happy together. Around the age of ten, Merideth and her mother's relationship started to drift apart. They started to see on two different levels and Merideth couldn't help but feel like her and her mother just weren't on the same page anymore. The two got into their arguments about just about anything and everything. Whether it was clothes, or curfew, or her grades, they just didn't see eye to eye anymore. So they just stopped communicating as much as they did when she was younger. In school, Merideth's grades were always just average. She kept them good enough for her parents to be happy, but she often had to learn how to quickly dig herself out of a ginormous hole. Merideth found her niche in the drama club in high school, and instantly fell in love with it, even if she wasn't getting the lead roles. Almost annually Merideth would get this dream, but it was so vivid during some points she had felt like she had been there and it had happened before. Especially recently, she can't kick the deja vu that she's been having. But Merideth is just trying to get through her senior year. She doesn't have a job, since her mother thinks she's too irresponsible to keep one and maintain her grades. Not like she does that anyways. |

| To say that Merideth isn't brightest bulb in the bunch is probably an accurate statement nine times out of ten. Sometimes it's because she doesn't care, like when she's in school. Or more often than none, it's to get the attention of a nearby cutie. As good of an act as it may be sometimes, Mer really isn't as dumb as she appears -- she just isn't that motivated when it comes to her schoolwork. Often she relies on her close friends to help dig her out of the large hole she digs herself into on a regular basis. But it's never all take and no give with Merideth. She's fiercely loyal to those she loves, and would take a bullet for them in a heartbeat. No matter what time it is, Merideth is always the first one to lend a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen -- not like she doesn't do enough talking herself. But no matter what kind of trouble or situation her friends get themselves into, Merideth is always willing to be right there next to them. Unless it's something dangerous, then she'll be there talking them out of it. Ditzy and disorganized is something she is, but naive and a pushover is something she isn't, and if something doesn't feel right Merideth will be the first to speak up. Whenever she goes for something that she really wants, Merideth has the tendency to throw herself completely into whatever she's doing. If she's going to dedicate that much time and effort, the least she could do is do it right and the way she wants it. But because she puts so much into things she wants, Merideth tends to be disappointed and heartbroken easily. But no matter how many times she falls, Merideth dusts herself off and stands up on her own two feet, sometimes with the help of her friends. To break said silence, Merideth would gladly open her mouth to fill the void. Her chatterbox characteristic has gotten her into trouble more times than she could count. Either she's said something she wasn't supposed to and accidentally let a small but crucial piece of gossip she heard from whatshername last week or accidentally insulted the way someone's hair looks to the wrong person, her mouth has never failed to get her into trouble. Mer really doesn't mean harm, but it just slips sometimes. Everyone's human, right? If there's one thing the girl knows how to do, it's hold a grudge. for some reason, Merideth has the hardest time forgetting things. Forgiving is a totally different story. She has a huge heart, but knowing deep-down just what that specific person did to hurt or someone she loves her drives her mind crazy and she can't get over it. She'll think that she's over it, but the next time they are in the same room, her brain goes into flashback mode and bam, she's back where she started. Indecision is something she struggles with often. Merideth has the hardest time deciding what outfit she wants to wear, where she wants to go, who she wants to see.. anything. Mer has more of the 'ride life by the seat of your pants' kind of attitude, she loves life for what it's worth. |

| If there's one thing that Merideth knows how to do, it's strut her stuff. She has enough confidence about her to last her a lifetime. She watches a lot of television, including those modeling shows. Not that she'd ever want to model, but she likes to pretend she's one of those models. Merideth has the legs for it, at least. Standing at 5'7", Merideth can often be found tripping over her own two feet. Her golden blonde hair is always kept long, and normally curly even if it takes her that much longer everyday to do. She has very prominent features about her, including round and high cheekbones and strong chin. Something that is almost instantly noticeable on Merideth is her smile. She is almost constantly laughing with her mouth wide open or grinning like an idiot. Merideth has very warm, blue eyes that are normally accented with mascara. Merideth has a mole on the right side of her nose, underneath her eye, which she really dislikes, but has stopped trying to cover up. |
